Happy New Year 2022 !

Dear praying Friends and Family!
Thank you for praying for us and for my brother’s family, as everyone is grieving the loss of Michael G. Carder. He passed away early on December 24th, at the age of 68, after battling leukemia, fungal pneumonia, and a (non-covid) virus infection.
He will be greatly missed.
We spend Christmas in Cornelius, NC, with Karen’s brothers Gordon Engle, and Doug Engle, and are planning to head back to Kansas, Lord willing, on January 5th. Please pray for travel mercies & safety on the road.
Also, please pray for the many “unknowns” & challenges that are ahead of us. We rely on the Lord to help & guide us…
On a different note: our team at home in the Philippines, had a kid’s club a week ago, and over 170 kids showed up! All were fed and took a 11lbs bag of rice home! And this amidst a strong typhoon going through the south area of Mindanao! This storm caused some rain and strong winds over the island, but everything went well! Praise the Lord!
Please continue to pray for our team and the ministry there on Romblon Island!
Thanks for praying with us and for us!
In Him!

” Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ “

Dear praying Friends and Family!
We would like to ask for your prayers for Patrick’s brother, Michael Carder.
Mike has been back in the hospital again since last week Friday. The doctors found that he had pneumonia. Now the question was – which kind? Today the pulmonary department performed a bronchoscopy of his lungs. No results yet. As they also checked his blood, they found that Mike has a fungal infection of the blood and the lungs. The markers in the blood point towards Mucor. Again, not confirmed yet. The transplant doctors, pulmonologist, infectious disease doctors and lead surgeon are all checking Mike out and are awaiting the test results. As of now, he will have to stay for the next two weeks here in the Stanford hospital. The antifungal medication that he gets is very potent and has to be monitored. Depending on what the outcome is, Mike will possibly have to have surgery on his lungs. That is the only way to eliminate the fungus.
Thanks for praying with us!

Dear praying Friends and Family!
We made it to California and had the 1st session with Patrick’s brother’s medical team at Stanford Cancer Center. We praise the Lord for such a great team! Patrick’s brother Mike Carder was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML), and he is in need of Patrick’s stem cells.
And, we thank the Lord that, while we were waiting in the lobby, there comes Patrick’s brother in a wheelchair, pushed by his wife Ursula! We had a wonderful time catching up! We were hoping & praying that we would be able to see Mike, even just through a glass window, but we were prepared if not…The Lord is so good!
So, Patrick will have the 1st of 4 injections starting on Oct, 16th, and then one everyday, until the collection of his stem cells on Oct. 20th. They will then be transferred to his brother Mike on Oct, 22nd. We will be in the hospital that day to pray for the procedure. Please pray with us!
We probably will not see Mike for a while, since he has to stay in the hospital for about a month…
Thanks for praying with us and for us!

“…to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen” – Jude 25
Dear Friends and Family!
We finally arrived in Kansas and are enjoying the wonderful fellowship with our Church family at Shawnee Bible Chapel.
The LORD has been in every detail of our journey, and we praise Him!
Please pray for Patrick’s brother Mike Carder, as he is battling leukemia, in locked down California. We are not allowed to visit him, neither in the hospital nor at his home, due to his compromised immune system. He is not a believer in the LORD Jesus Christ and we would appreciate your prayers for him. We are also standing by to travel to California in a seconds notice, in case Patrick’s bone marrow is needed for transplant…
Also, please pray for our village and people back on Romblon Island PH, as everything is locked down again. Our friend Lani Mangaring is “watching” our house and is continuing the ministry, as we are on furlough. The kid’s ministry had to be put on hold due to the renewed lock down. Our house is probably the safest place to be if there are new COVID cases in the area.
Patrick is working as hard as he can to finalize the quality assurance process of the Tagalog/ Filipino audio for the “King of Glory Movie” while here on furlough. Please continue to pray for this.
Lastly, please pray for safety as we will travel to other parts of the US to see family and to share our report of what the LORD is doing on Romblon.
Thanks for praying with us and for us!
In Him!

Dear praying Friends and Family!
We completed all of the medical check-ups, and we praise the LORD for good results!
After 4 weeks in our AirBnB, and many doctor’s appointments, many taxi rides, many lab works, an “Echo Stress Test, a “Doppler” Ultra sound scan, and the final consultation with our doctor, his words were “Patrick, your heart is strong & healthy”!
Again, praise the LORD! We are so joyful!
The doctor was not happy with Patrick’s elevated blood pressure, and elevated heart rate, so he prescribed a “low dose” of a beta blocker to control both, and with success! Both are almost back to normal ranges!
Patrick ran out of breath during the treadmill test, therefore the doctor did the “Doppler” scan, and the result is that Patrick’s lungs are ok, but he prescribed an inhaler to open them up. And it works well, and Patrick only takes it when he feels out of breath.
We are so thankful to the LORD, as He guided us through it all!
He took care of EVERY LITTLE DETAIL: like missing the boat to the mainland twice, so that we could have the lodging on a flexible, weekly renewal, and, finding this great doctor, and, many other “little” things!
Wow, we see His hand in all of it! Again, Praise Him!
Now, we can move forward and are looking for a flight to the US, as a furlough is long overdue.
Please be joyful with us, and continue to pray for the LORD’S guidance!
We miss you all and hope to see you soon!
Thanks for praying with us and for us!

“ Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgives all yours iniquities; who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies…” – Psalm 103:1-4
Dear Friends and Family!
We praise the LORD for getting us to Manila safely!
The 14h boat ride was very rough and arrived at Batangas port Sunday morning, 3h late. Our driver thankfully waited and drove us to Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, where our our AirBnB is. Our host, Rose, was very friendly and the check-in required many forms to be filled out. We were not allowed to leave our room until we had a negative COVID test.
So, Monday morning, after spending hours on the phone and on the internet, we decided to go to the Red Cross Main Office and inquire about the Saliva Test. Once there, they send us around the corner to their COVID test facility. Even that we had no appointment, the LORD was gracious and had a young man there help us to get in. All went well and we received the results about 6h later via email. Praise the LORD that the test came back NEGATIVE for COVID!
The next day we ventured out and went to the closest mall. There we were told to wear face masks AND face shields, and we were forced to sign-up to the cities’ Contact Tracing App. Then, finally, we were allowed in to the mall…What an ordeal!
Anyway, we are enjoying our stay here very much…
Please continue to pray for safety, health and our upcoming Doctor’s appointment on Monday June 28th at 12:30pm.
Thanks for praying with us and for us!

Our boat…Romblon to Batangas Port
Dear praying Friends and Family!
Well, we have a new appointment with our doctor in Manila, on June 28th!
Praise the LORD!
Over the next 2 weeks, we will be researching the boats and the hotels in regards to COVID protocols (again), and we will be praying that the LORD will give us a “green light” on all of it…
Many things change almost daily it seems and nobody really knows what the situation is in regards to the COVID protocols, so the LORD has to show us what & when…
“Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have relieved me in my distress;
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.”

Dear Friends and Family!
The LORD closed all doors in regards to our Manila travel plans last week, and we have deep peace about it! We praise the LORD for guiding & helping us through it all!
Proverbs 16:9 “A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
Starting next week, we will start inquiring again about a doctor’s appointment, the travel from here to the mainland, by boat and van, the hotel in Manila, and all the necessary procedures (travel approval, COVID tests for the hotel, etc.). We are getting conflicting information about locked down areas & travel restrictions…Please pray for all of it…
Lastly, please pray for our health, as both of us have seasonal allergies (tree pollen), accompanied by vertigo & dizziness symptoms…this is only a problem when traveling by boat…
Thanks for praying with us and for us!

Dear praying Friends and Family!
85 Kids came to the Bible Verse Memory this last Sunday afternoon! Praise the Lord! It was a sunny and hot day, and a lot of work! We all were exhausted afterwards!
In the morning, we had our usual Bible study (“Men Who Met The Master”), and had a nice discussion about the veil in the temple that was torn in half, when the Lord Jesus died on the cross. We discussed the symbol of the “torn veil” in detail. After that we had breaking of bread, and our young man, Anthony (18), shared from the scriptures. It was all a delight!
A few days before, Karen had a Bible study with one our our senior ladies, and there was a wonderful discussion afterwards.
On a sad note, someone set fire to the grass of the hill area to the south, which borders on our well pump shack. The fire destroyed the electricity line going to the well pump, so we had to repair the damage. Conrad and Patrick labored a few hours in the heat and got it fixed. This well is our only source of water as of now…
Lastly, we had some challenges with the daily power outages, the heat, and Patrick’s desktop PC breaking. Patrick had to order a new graphics card from Manila, and after 10 days the computer was running again. This is the desktop with mainly the King of Glory Tagalog audio editing software on it. Praise the Lord that it is running again!
Thanks for praying with us and for us!
