Short Prayer Request, Jan. 30th

Dear Friends & Family,

We have our boat tickets for Manila and are scheduled to leave on this Wednesday 9pm, and to stay for 16 days.

The purpose is to stock up on much needed supplies, to see the Dentist (Karen has a bad tooth…), to meet with Tod Allman (Bible Translation Software), to meet with the new Emmaus Philippines (formerly BSA) folks, to pick up our new 5 year drivers license, to find spare parts for our bike, and to see some friends…

Please pray for safety, health & strength.

Thanks for praying for us.

Encouraged! (Jan 24, 2018)

Dear Friends & Family,

As we stated in our update a few days ago, we have had to cancel a lot of times due to strong rain, wind and very “cold”temperatures (…”cold” for Filipino people…). We also didn’t want them to get sick…  So we wanted to start it up again this last Saturday, but both of our Filipino sisters who help us were sick and it was pouring rain…so we canceled.

Later that day, the sun peeked out and not long after that, we suddenly saw 20 kids trickling down our sidewalk!   Begging to say their verses!

That so thrilled our hearts!

What an encouragement!  Thank you LORD!

We were once again reminded:

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deut. 31:8

Thanks for praying with us and for us!

In Him!

” Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgives all yours iniquities; who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies…” – Psalm 103:1-4

Update Jan 22, 2018

Dear friends & family,

The last few month have been quite a challenge for us.

One tropical storm after another, with sustained high winds, and almost daily torrential rain downfall, causing a bunch of landslides on our main road to town, but also long periods of power & internet outages. Our ladies Bible study did not meet for many weeks, due to weather, but also due to sickness (cold & flu). Same with the children’s work.

We had to go to the neighboring island to renew our car tags and that was very challenging as well. To do that, we had to drive on to a small roll-on-roll-off boat ferry. The dangerously high waves tossed the small vessel back and forth, for about 40min. We encountered many landslides as well on the way to main town Odiangan, but made it ok. We chose to stay a few days in a “motel” to wait for the sea to calm down and we made it back home safely.

We thank the LORD for keeping us save and sound thru all of it! Praise Him!

Please pray for the different efforts of our ministry to start back up soon!

In Him,

Patrick & Karen

Merry CHRISTmas 2017

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for laboring with us in prayer this last year!

We could not do the LORD’s work here without you!

Please continue to pray for the Philippine people, especially  as the 2 recent typhoons paused much devastation due to a lot of rain and landslides.  Our power and internet have been restored, but remain flaky…all roads are open since yesterday, praise the LORD!

We are having all of our friends over today to celebrate the birth of our LORD Jesus…

Merry CHRISTmas,

and

a Happy New Year!
