Dear Friends and Family!

Our island is still recovering from Typhoon “Tisoy”, a category 5 storm, that left much devastation in it’s path.  We praise the LORD that no lives were lost! We also praise Him, that the power to our house restored was restored just a few hours ago! The last 3 weeks were hard on us, as we had little sleep, and a lot of work, and some things just not going right.  We thank the LORD that he brought us through it all!

The coffee shop in town is coming together nicely, but we still are facing challenges with permits, and so forth. Please pray, as we already had good contacts to share the Gospel!

We had to cancel the Bible Verse Memorization Club, due to the power outage, needed roof repairs, and that our helpers could not make it here, because of road conditions…

Please continue to pray for the following:

We are OK!  Thank you LORD!

Typhoon KAMMURI (TISOY/29W)  hit our village and our island hard!

As far as we know, no lives were lost, thank you LORD!

There is much devastation on the island and many of our neighbors lost roofs, pieces of their houses, and all the power lines are down.  Our house only lost some wooden shutters, but our Nipa hut (multi function room) lost pieces of the roof, but only little water came in, thank you LORD! We have not checked our well pump, it’s power- and water lines, but will do that tomorrow…please pray that everything will be intact! We have water in our tank for about 7 days and are conserving where we can…

It is estimated that the electricity will be down for at least one week, if not more, and we are thankful to the LORD for our generator!  It will run about 50% of the time to conserve gasoline, but that will keep the refrigerator cold enough.  Also, many neighbors are wanting to charge their devices & lamps with our generator, and it has become somewhat overwhelming.  Patrick is putting up a “charging station” for community with a long extension cable to the road… Please pray that gasoline will be available…

Our Coffee shop in town lost pieces of the metal roof and flooded. Also the power line was torn off the wall and we already had electricians fix it.  The electric company (Romelco) will have to come and reconnect it to the “grid”. Our friend Lani Mangaring helped to clean and dry out the shop, even though her own house sustained damaged to the roof and it needed cleaning, too!  What a friend!

The cell phone service just came back, including internet, but it is very slow and unstable at the moment…

Also, please pray that the ATMs will be working again, soon…

There is much work to be done and we will report back as we can…

Dear Friends & Family,

We praise the LORD for allowing us to be at & to enjoy the CMML Missionary Retreat, and also for a good stay in Manila.  We had a set back with the car repairs, though, as the dealer did not have any of the parts needed, especially not the transmission sensor…maybe the next time we are in Manila.  One of our fellow missionaries recommended a “3rd party” repair shop, and we finally got all the fluids changed, and the brakes pad & rotors replaced, praise the LORD!

We had no Ladies Bible study during the last few weeks, as no one showed up…

Patrick has been sick with a sinus infection, but he is getting well again…

The LORD allowed us to rent a space in town and we are fixing it up, as to be a “livelihood” project for Lani, who is a widow.  We envision it to become a coffee shop, where Lani can sell her incredible baked goods, and where we could meet for Bible study with town people. Thank you LORD!

Dear Friends & Family!

   WOW!  The LORD brought 60 kids to our Bible Verse Memory Club this last Saturday!  Usually we average 28 kids, so Praise The LORD!  Many new kids from neighboring villages! We will need to pick up some more supplies!  We are so joyful! Thank you LORD for the Mangaring family that helps us with this!

   Patrick is eagerly working on “The King of Glory Movie” Filipino audio. Thus far we completed the recording of all 70 Scenes (“1st Cut”) and it all needs to be edited for length to fit the movie’s exact time line. Some passages might have to be re-recorded, and the narration re-written, if they are to long to match the time line. The editing is very time consuming, but the first 7 scenes are already done. Please pray for stamina, wisdom and guidance in this regard.

   We are planning to get windows in to our “Multi Function” building, and then to complete the electrical wiring during the next few weeks, LORD willing. Rainy season is coming soon! The building has been and is a great blessing, especially with all the new kids coming!

   On a different note: over the last 10 weeks we have been “plagued” with high temperatures (>100F), accommodated by daily, multiple, 2-3 hour long power outages. This makes things more challenging, even that we have a reliable generator…it just slows things down a bit…

Dear Friends and Family,

Wow! A few days ago we had a record hot day with 96.8F & 90% humidity – we were melting!  The power went off also, and we had to turn on our trusted generator several times.  The longest outage we had thus far started at 2am and lasted 8h, thank you LORD for the generator!

Last week we were able to start the rehearsal of the narration for “King of Glory” and finally got some audio tracks recorded. Our “voice-talent” is incredible and it was a joy working with her!  There are still many weeks of editing to align the recording with the time line of the movie, so please continue to pray for strength, stamina and the LORD’s guiding!

The translation team just finished the final draft of the Gospel of John from William MacDonald’s “Believer’s Bible Commentary” in Tagalog/ Filipino.  Lord willing, it will go into the publishing phase once the final proof reading is done.  The next books being edited are “Colossians” & “Philippians” and it is going well so far.  Please pray for the team and this project!

Due to the kids being out of school, both the Ladies Bible Study and the kid’s Bible Verse Memory Club are on pause until school starts up again. Please pray that the LORD will bring them all back!

Dear Friends & Family,

    We are very encouraged lately with what is happening at our weekly Ladies Bible Study! For one, we had a very good number show up, and the fellowship afterwards was just wonderful!  Secondly, one older lady named Elsa (our landlord’s aunt…), who we noticed of having some memory problems, often not recognizing us when we pass by, showed up!  She is known in the village as being “mean”…  Well, Praise The LORD, she showed up last Saturday for Bible Study and was the sweetest person!  She also had good questions in regard to forgiveness,  and she heard the Gospel very clearly that day!  It was a joy to see her sharp, alert & attentive!  Please pray for her salvation!

   The Bible Verse Memory Club is going very well, and we are encourage by the many young people returning the exams of our Tagalog ECS courses for grading. Thus far we have handed out 35 Certificates!  Praise The LORD!

   Patrick completed version 1.00 of the software module for the “The Bible Translator’s Assistant” application, and it was well received by the group!  It still needs some “polishing” and additional features, like a personal dictionary database, where the translator can store personal English phrases.  There is still much to do, so please pray for wisdom & stamina!

⚑ Travel: we are schedule to sail to Manila on March 22nd, for supplies and meetings with the TBTA software group…

⚑ Lani Mangaring: she is currently the Ladies Bible Study leader, please pray for wisdom & endurance…

⚑ BBC Translation: is on hold, due to vacation of our main translator…we are still praying for more translators, proof readers, and editors…

⚑ King of Glory Movie: is on hold due to overwhelming school projects of our voice talent, and pending setup of sound proofing measures in the studio…

⚑ The Bible Translator’s Assistant: continued software development…wisdom & stamina…

⚑ Salvation: pray for children & adults to receive the LORD Jesus as their LORD & Savior!
